To: All undergraduate and graduate students of the University,
In March 2021, Northeast Forestry University was approved by the Ministry of Education to participate in the Innovation and Practice Program for the Cultivation of High-Level International Talents.
To continue advancing the high-quality development of the Program, the University aims to cultivate, in support of its "Double First-Class" initiative, more interdisciplinary talents with a global vision, proficiency in foreign languages, and a solid command of international rules.
In accordance with the spirit of the Notice on Launching the Global Governance and Interdisciplinary Course Series of the Innovation and Practice Program for the Cultivation of High-Level International Talents for the 2026–2027 Academic Year (Renwenzhongxin Han [2026] No. 165) issued by the Center for International People-to-People Exchange of the Ministry of Education, the University hereby launches the selection of students for the Program's Base Class for the Fall Semester of 2026. The relevant matters are hereby notified as follows:
I. Program Background and Achievements
Since its implementation, the Program has yielded remarkable results and has progressively established a well-developed support system covering course study, competence training, and internships and practical training. In recent years, Program participants have repeatedly distinguished themselves on the stage of global governance, demonstrating the outstanding caliber of students of Northeast Forestry University:
Frequent breakthrough achievements. In early 2026, Jia YOU, a graduate student of the Base Class, successfully completed a six-month internship at the Geneva headquarters of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Switzerland. This marked the first time a student of our University had interned at a core specialized agency of the United Nations, representing a major breakthrough in the University's cultivation of talent for international organizations.
Recognition of innovative work. In 2025,Shixuan LI, a student of Aulin College, during an internship at an international organization, produced a research article and a short film which, on account of their keen insight into the convergence of culture and technology, were selected for the digital library of the UNESCO World Conference on Cultural Policies and Sustainable Development (MONDIACULT) and made publicly available worldwide.
Broad engagement with frontier issues. The Program actively organizes students to participate in high-level international events. In 2025, student delegates attended the Model World Health Assembly hosted by the World Health Organization (WHO) in Geneva, contributing the voices of Chinese youth on global issues such as digital health and artificial intelligence. The Program has also supported students in participating in seminars and study sessions at international summits on the ethics and governance of artificial intelligence. To date, through the Program, the University has sent more than 110 students on offline and online internships and practical training placements, at host institutions including, but not limited to, the Embassy of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka in China, the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, the International Organization Talent Development Society, and the International Multilateral Trade Cooperation Organization.
These achievements fully demonstrate that participation in the Program offers opportunities for high-level international cultivation and practice, and for the enhancement of global competence. A new round of selection is hereby launched for all currently enrolled students. Students aspiring to devote themselves to global governance, or to intern and work at international organizations, are cordially welcome to apply.
