To further strengthen Party spirit education, carry forward the spirit of exemplary role models, and guide Party members among the teaching staff to firm up their ideals and convictions and reinforce their sense of responsibility, the Directly-Affiliated CPC Branch of Hainan International Institute, Northeast Forestry University launched the themed Party Day activity “Shaping Souls through Films, Paying Tribute to Role Models” on October 26. Ma Rui, Secretary of the Branch, Luo Wei, Deputy Secretary and Vice Dean, together with all faculty members of the Institute, attended the event. They jointly watched the realistic criminal investigation film Traces of the Detective, drawing inspiration from the exemplary spirit and gaining motivation for forging ahead through the cinematic narrative.
The film Traces of the Detective is adapted from the true-life story of Cui Daozhi, recipient of the July 1st Medal and one of the first specially-invited criminal investigation experts of the Ministry of Public Security. Centered on the decades-long police career of trace examination expert Cui Xun, the movie recounts a series of major cases spanning many years. Through the twists and turns of case investigations, it portrays the protagonist’s spiritual character of abiding by professional ethics, seeking truth from facts, and performing duties faithfully. It also allows the audience to feel the faith and strength of a CPC member who stays true to the original aspiration and mission year in and year out.
After the screening, Party members and teachers shared their reflections in connection with their practical work.Guan Feng, a counsellor, remarked that Comrade Cui Daozhi’s decades-long dedication to frontline trace examination embodies the absolute loyalty and utmost commitment of a CPC member to his cause. As university counsellors, we need this same rigour, meticulousness, steadfastness and perseverance in our work. We must detect shifts in students’ ideological outlook and identify their real difficulties from subtle daily changes, so that every confused young soul can find a path forward and a light to follow.
Dong Guanghui, a frontline teacher, stated that he was deeply inspired by the investigative logic shown in the film: “Every action leaves traces; trace evidence traces back the source, and facts are verified through proof.” This aligns with the professional education he delivers. Conclusions should not be based on subjective assumptions, but on collection, screening, verification and revision. He will integrate this rigorous, evidence-based mindset into teaching and research guidance, helping students conduct sound academic study and scientific research.
The Directly-Affiliated CPC Branch of Hainan International Institute consistently integrates Party member education into day-to-day routines. Going forward, it will continue to innovate forms of organisational activities. Through more tangible and immersive platforms, the Branch will guide Party-member teachers to consolidate their faith and replenish their spiritual nourishment via theoretical study and practical reflection. Teachers will translate insights gained from learning into concrete actions to fulfil their duties, temper their Party spirit and enhance capabilities in the practice of fostering virtue through education.
